This blog is written by Rebecca Jefferson, curator of the Isser and Rae Price Library of Judaica. It is dedicated to the stories that surround the scarce and rare items in our Library’s special collections. I hope that the stories will inform our readers about the breadth and depth of the Judaica Library’s wonderful content and inspire and encourage further research into these materials.

Most of our special collections are housed in the Judaica Suite in Smathers Library at the George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida. The Judaica Suite was designed by renowned Florida architect and artist, Kenneth Treister to showcase the Price Library of Judaica’s special collections. It opened in January 2014.

For information about how to visit and use our collections, see the Special Collections and Area Studies Department website. Information about visiting the Judaica Suite can be found on our Judaica Library’s website.  As much as possible, we try to make our special materials freely available to read online through our Jewish Diaspora Collection.
